Artist in Focus - photo exhibition of Ani Petrova

With the face of a goddess, as Magda Abazova describes her, with a permanent smile and a camera hanging around her neck, Ani Petrova can be seen at almost every exhibition opening in Sofia’s galleries. Over more than 20 years, she has not just documented events, but has managed to capture the atmosphere in the galleries and the magic in many artists’ ateliers.

Galleries come and go, but Ani is always there. One can always rely on her. She does it with head and heart, and with a lot of respect and tact toward her “models”. She does it for love. It is enough for her to be greeted with a smile and to hear: “Thank you, Ani!”

From November 21st till December 3rd, 2016, in Stubel Gallery, you can see a selection of Ani Petrova’s photographs of artists. They are spontaneous and do not aspire to be portraits in the classical sense. They catch moods and states and are part of a past and a present, which we are trying to preserve.
