1976 – Graduated from the National School of Fine Arts “Ilia Petrov”, Sofia

1984 – Graduated in Illustration and Book Design from the National Academy of Art

Since 1995, has taught Illustration at the National Academy of Art.

Between 1983 and 2012, in collaboration with several Bulgarian publishing houses, Viktor Paunov realized graphic design and illustration projects for more than 1000 books and published editions, incl. more than 50 books for children and adolescents, such as Grimm’s Fairy Tales, Alice in Wonderland, Bulgarian Folk Fairy Tales, The Bible in 365 Stories for Children, Small Frog Stories, Hippopotamus Gabrielle, etc.

During the last 10 years, he has completed several projects in postage stamp design.

1986– Recognition from the National Exhibition of Illustration and Bulgarian Book Design for The Lazy Cat, pub. “Otechestvo”

1989–Illustrator of the Year award from the association “Bulgarian Book and Print”

1990– Grand prize named after Boris Angelushev at the National Exhibition of Illustration and Bulgarian Book Design

1998–IBBY (International Board on Books for Young People) Award

2000–Award at the First National Competition for Graphic Design, organized by ACT Soft Plc. within the International Book Fair, Sofia

2001–Honorable recognition for contribution to children’s literature from the “Home of the Children’s Book” along with the Angel Karalyichev Museum and the Ministry of Education and Science
